About Aalysha Gonzalez

LMHC, Qualified Supervisor, Trauma Therapist
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor practicing in Central Florida. I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Illinois and my graduate degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University.
I specialize in the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders, family conflict, addiction, adolescent challenges, personal growth, and trauma. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Solution-focused techniques.

I have 15 years of post-licensure experience in many settings, including private practice, inpatient substance abuse treatment centers, schools, primary care clinics, crisis teams, and psychiatric stabilization units. Much like my work experience reflects, I enjoy working with a variety of clients.
I believe that each client comes to therapy with his/her own set of skills and perspectives from which to draw, and my approach, therefore, will be unique to each individual.

In the therapeutic setting, I provide a strength-based, cooperative encounter that creates a respectful and safe therapeutic environment. I believe it is important that we work together as a team, where you are the expert of your needs, and I offer options for adjustments in behavior and thought patterns that will help to improve your well being.
In addition to our sessions, I will occasionally provide homework tasks such as journaling or practicing learned skills at home to further enhance our work. I also value a whole-person approach in that some assignments or recommendations may include physical health and mindfulness activities.

I would describe myself as compassionate and intuitive. I am straightforward, and I also love humor. Balance, humility, and kindness are paramount to peace of mind. I believe knowledge can be found anywhere if we are open to receive it, and our connection to one another is greater than our differences. In working with you, I hope that you experience a safe place that enables your personal growth.
